Text Based Update

Donations

We are extremely grateful for the recent donation of dental equipment that will enable May -  the Head of surgical and dental services - to start dental work in the near future.

Funds have also been donated to cover the indemnity insurance which, up until now,  has been an ongoing hindrance to general medical outreach services. This is a huge breakthrough.

Audiology

Julie is an Audiologist from America. She has been working part time for the Health Team for the last few months. Recently she facilitated the screening of children at Hephzibah. Specialists, from one of the local hospitals, kindly donated their time and equipment for this testing.

Julie was also able to assess some patients from the community at the Health Centre. Please ask that other cooperative partnerships can be established with the health work.

Foreign Staff – Mary, Anne, Chris

We are thankful for Mary’s return to the Health Team. Mary brought back with her many resources that were generously donated to the work including a microscope. These gifts assist us to provide the services that are so desperately needed here.

Anne is a highly experienced nurse from America. She has been providing training with the nurses on ECG’s, management of diarrhea, and CPR.

Chris is an enthusiastic character who has brought a lot of fun to the team. As a medical student, Chris has been developing policy, assisting in surgery, and conducting medical and conversational English training. He has enjoyed his time here so much, that he is already planning to return.

Patients

In our last update we told you about Simon who has been receiving treatment for clubfeet. The operations on his Achilles’ tendons were successful. He is required to wear this brace to complete the treatment. This small procedure results in a huge change to Simon’s life. He will now have the freedom to walk, run and play like other children.

Urgent Vacancies - David:

Please remember our urgent need for medical practitioners and an administrator to replace David, which will enable the continuation of these services to help change lives.

Also remember our finances, especially the running costs and provision to expand above and beyond bear essentials.

Thank you for your supporting thoughts,

The Healthcare team.
