About US

"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me
to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me
to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind,
     to release the oppressed,
to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."
                                                                                       Luke 4:18-19

The Need

China has many large cities, but the majority of its huge population live in the countryside. Most of the population is poor and many have very limited access to essential health services. Clinical needs abound for people of all age groups in care centers, hospitals and communities. The provision of health training, preventative health care and community development is particularly important to provide long-term solutions to China's health challenges.

The Vision

Health For China was conceived through a vision we believe God has given - to bring wholeness and healing to a nation where many people have been denied this opportunity. The heart of the work is to share the Love of Christ, and to be His hands and feet bringing medical aid to some of the many in need.

The Response

Health For China integrates three main programs:

1. Health Training

  • Training for the staff of Chinese Child Welfare Centers (orphanages)
Health For China's childcare training courses are imparting skills to those that provide hands-on care for abandoned babies in childcare centers. Train the Trainers courses seek to multiply the effectiveness of our work by raising up Chinese trainers to reach hundreds or thousands of children. The training courses include --
o Basic infant and child nursing care
o Infants with a congenital abnormality
         o Infants with disease
         o Special needs and education
         o Nursing Leadership
o Training teachers of the deaf

  • Training for medical university students, including doctors, nurses and primary health-care providers
Invitations for both short and long-term teaching and tutoring positions have been issued in a variety of urban and rural locations. Medical training in paediatrics, anaesthetics and pathology has been provided.

2.  Health & Medical Consultation

  • Consultation for city and rural hospitals and community health services
After a number of years of clinical paediatric consultation to abandoned and orphaned children, Health For China has expanded its consulting to the medical community including nurses and allied health staff. Health For China's input is increasingly being sought by colleges, training institutions and child care facilities. Visiting professionals have opportunity to attend operations and have hands-on input into patient care.
  • Consultation for national Chinese and international staff in China employed by the Caring For China ministries
As well as addressing the wide variety of health needs for the female staff involved in the Caring For China ministries, this service aims to reach other women, especially those who are poor and have limited existing services.

3.  Community Care

Working with abandoned children led us into an awareness of the medical needs of those in the wider community. Our aim is to establish mobile medical teams and health care facilities. Our vision is to be a living demonstration of the father heart of God through this work of compassion, especially to the young, the poor, disadvantaged, oppressed and neglected.
Service opportunities to China's mainly rural population are opening. Health For China seeks to expand its ability to provide consultation and relief services to China's vast countryside and to deploy a growing team for community based rehabilitation, immunization and preventive education. Rural communities represent the --

     o Majority of population
     o Most disease
     o Least education
     o Least access to care
     o Least exposed to gospel

"Health For China is committed to choosing
the most cost effective way… aiming at early detection…"

Health For China initiatives include--
o Integrated Management of Childhood Illness
     o Women's Health service
     o Dental Health Service
     o Community Outreach Nursing Service
     o Prevention Education
     o Hospital Consultation
     o Reaching Rural Communities
     o Reaching Those Society Rejects

Health For China operates in full co-operation with the Chinese authorities. Relationships are progressively being built with organizations including universities, hospitals, health clinics and practitioners, government departments and NGO's, corporate businesses and local people.

Headed by a consultant paediatrician from Australia, Health For China is overseen by an international Board of Directors and supported by a worldwide network of supporters and prayer partners. Health For China (HFC) is a member of Caring For China (CFC) with related ministries of Caring for China's Children (CFCC) and Teachers For China (TFC).
